Personality: A Key Factor in the Selection Process
The CDS Personnel Assessment Profiles provides personality based information as it relates to job performance and is derived from a questionnaire that surveys general attitudes about ever day experiences and situations. It is untimed and takes the average reader about thirty minutes to respond to the ninety-nine items.
CDS recommends using the Assessment as part of the pre-contracting process or for aiding in the promotion decision of a current employee being considered for a position requiring more responsibility, learning new skills, or other needs of a new position.
Our work fills one major step in the selection process; that of assessing the personality structure of the individual and looking at those areas where known traits impact the likelihood of success in the particular job in question. Personality gives direction to our lives, our interests, and is the core of our reactions to events in every day life both as an employee and as an individual.
Professional literature as well as independent research attests to the validity and relevance of personality traits as they relate to job performance. Measuring those traits, where appropriate, should be a part of any systematic recruiting, hiring, and training process.
The CDS Personnel Assessment System is specifically designed to aid the employer in making those dynamic decisions about personnel that effect the business and the quality of those employees hired for continued growth and success.
History of CDS Software Systems
CDS Software Systems, the owner and developer of CDS Personnel Assessment Systems was founded in 1970 and designed one of the first stand alone computerized programs using four specific job category formats in which personality traits were specifically related to job performance. . The styles of reports were unique in that they contained information that carried the user through the interviewing and selection process as well as providing coaching for training and developing employees, once hired.
Beginning in 1970, CDS has worked closely with a broad variety of clients, assisting them in the selection and training of personnel in the areas of sales (both inside and outside), management/supervisory (especially in the retail and/or restaurant field). The reports are also used in general staffing, covering those positions such as customer service, driver/delivery, office staff, and administrative assistants in most categories of business services.
CDS brings over 35 years of experience working with personality traits as they relate to work place requirements and is able to bring this expertise to clients using such measuring instruments as a part of their human resource practices. Most recently, CDS has completed a new “Safety Awareness” program with interpretive language that specifically relates to highlighting safety issue concerns and methods of coping with stress related to these type of jobs.
